Confluent Development Announces Strategic Promotions

Confluent Development, a national full-service real estate investment and development firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of two team members, Lauren Selinger and Jill Lezama. Aligning with its long-term strategic plans and business goals, Confluent is making continued internal investments in its team members, further strengthening the foundation of its core real estate development platforms.

Lauren Selinger, corporate attorney, has been promoted to general counsel, and Jill Lezama has been promoted to controller, vice president of accounting and finance.

“With 2023 well underway, Confluent is focused on sustaining the scale and capabilities of our firm through our continued investment in our existing team. It remains a top priority for us to create a culture that recognizes and promotes unique skill sets, celebrating successes and creating pathways for our talented team members to flourish in their careers,” said Marshall Burton, CEO of Confluent Development. “Lauren and Jill will undoubtedly continue to have a meaningful impact in their new positions, and we’re eager to see the innovative strategies, approaches and unique solutions they embrace in this next chapter of their careers at Confluent.”

Selinger has been with Confluent for nearly six years as the firm’s corporate attorney and is seasoned in all aspects of advocating the team in development transactions, entitlement matters, leasing, loans and closings. Selinger’s business background brings more than 16 years of legal practice in the areas of real estate, construction, litigation, business, and corporate work to the team at Confluent Development. Selinger has extensive experience in commercial leasing, commercial and residential foreclosures, loan workouts, lending, and various other real estate and business matters. Prior to joining Confluent, Selinger was a partner with Gelman & Norberg, LLC as a commercial real estate attorney and residential real estate attorney where she actively represented clients in complex business and real estate transactions and all types of civil litigation.

As general counsel, Selinger will oversee Confluent’s legal activities, policies and risk assessment, and she will focus on creating solutions to simplify the support for Confluent’s development team, including automating acquisition, disposition and leasing processes.

After joining Confluent in 2021 as senior director and controller, Lezama rapidly ascended to a leadership position as controller and vice president of accounting and finance based on her exceptional experience and unique leadership qualities. Lezama is a CPA, bringing 20 years of progressive accounting experience across multiple industries to the Confluent team, whereby she has a proven track record of successful acquisition integration, shared service reorganization and process improvement, ensuring financial results are completed timely, efficiently, and accurately.

As vice president of accounting and finance, Lezama is responsible for the oversight of corporate and development accounting, tax, corporate finance, human resources, treasury, and accounts payable and receivable functions. She also directs the maintenance of HR and accounting systems and internal controls. Lezama reports to the CFO/CIO and is responsible for the strategic leadership of multiple teams, in addition to regular touchpoints with investors, lenders, executives and business partners who are integral to moving Confluent’s strategic business plans forward.
